"Do not be deceived."
The fact that a verse has this preface alludes to the problem of many falling for the deception. "Bad company ruins good morals." Friends. Companions. Fellows. Associates. Comrades. We all have them. We even categorize them as best friends, BFFs, acquaintances. What are you looking for in your friends and companions? Are you looking for someone who can lift you up? Are you looking for someone that will help you be a better Christian and will help you on your lifetime walk toward heaven? Or are you choosing people that you have to look the other way because of some of their sinful traits? If we are constantly having to ignore the wrong things our friends do, we need to find someone else to be around. Every time we let sin go, every time we look past a wrongful action, every time we join in on something that is not Christ-like we are chipping away at our own Christianity. Pretty soon, you won't even notice those sinful things. You will even start justifying the participation in some of those iniquities. "Do not be deceived." If God says to not do something, don't do it no matter what and if a companion or friend continues to go down that wide path, cut ties with that person. It is better to cut them off than to fall into sin yourself. Don't let others dictate your own Christian walk. It is not worth your soul.
